Electrochemical study of catechol and 4-methylcatechol in the presence of aniline in methanol

摘要
Electrochemical oxidation of catechol and 4-methylcatechol has been studied in the presence of aniline as a nucleophile in methanol solution using cyclic voltarnmetry and square wave voltarnmetry methods. The results indicate that the quinones derived from catechols participate in Michael addition reaction with aniline to form the corresponding catechol-aniline adducts according to an ECE mechanism.
