Reducing CO2 with Stable Covalent Organic Frameworks

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are highly desirable for electrocatalytic applications but not fully explored yet because of their poor stability. In a recently published paper in Chem, Liu et al. describe an approach to construct chemically stable COFs, involving quantitative linkage conversion from imine COFs, and for co-catalysis of electrochemical CO2 reduction by virtue of the resultant amine sites. The reported amine COF/Ag electrode shows enhanced catalytic selectivity. This work provides a new way to access chemically stable COFs for electrochemical catalysts.
