摘要
The coronavirus pandemic caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is unique and unprecedented in many respects and has challenged healthcare systems worldwide. Currently, there is no specific treatment or cure in the Western medicine system. Research is underway to develop effective vaccines and medications for the disease. In this scenario, the scientific community must think about Complementary and Alternative medicinal systems available worldwide. This review will present an overview of the coronavirus, including its history of origin, spread, and epidemiology, along with a comparative view of SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2, and MERS. An attempt was also made to highlight the role of traditional systems of medicine in preventing the coronavirus pandemic by providing an overview of the concept of the epidemic, its pathogenesis, and prevention strategies in two of the most popular systems of traditional medicine, namely, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda.
