An integrated dynamic traffic simulation and air pollution decision support system

摘要
Metropolitan authorities throughout the world require support in managing and controlling road traffic to avoid exceeding pollution limits set by national and international governing bodies. In the EC ESPRIT funded SIMTRAP (SIMulation of TRaffic and Air Pollution) project an integrated system for traffic flow simulation, air pollution modelling and decision support has been developed and tested in a number of European sites. SIMTRAP integrates two core components: the meso-scopic dynamic traffic simulation tool DYNEMO and the 3D air quality model DYMOS, in a remote HPCN (High Performance Computing and Networking) environment. Interpretation and visualisation of results takes place in a local 3D GIS system, and communication takes place using existing computer networks and protocols.
