Magnetic conductive liquids: preparation and properties of iron nanoparticles in mercury.

摘要
A dispersion of iron in mercury can be prepared by electrolytic reduction of colloidal solutions of iron oxides in a supporting electrolyte. This reduction step, which leads to a conductive and magnetic fluid is studied by cyclic voltammetry and controlled under potentiostatic conditions. Composition, size of particles and magnetic properties of the final products (Fe in Hg) are determined by physical and chemical methods. Some unexpected properties (such as magnetic remanence) have been observed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
