Heavy-ion physics at LHC

摘要：

Starting in 2007 the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will collide proton beams at roots = 14 TeV and lead beams at roots(NN) = 5.5 TeV. The experiments are presently under construction and a detailed physics programme is under preparation. I will review a few heavy-ion physics aspects for which LHC will be unique and will also discuss the detectors performance appropriate to address this physics.
