摘要：

This article provides an overview of the chiropractic profession for a primary care audience. A summary of the history and development of the chiropractic profession is presented, followed by a description of the educational requirements that must be met for one to become a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic. A review of the worldwide status of chiropractic also is provided. Chiropractic-use rates in the United States are discussed briefly, as are the most commonly treated conditions and basic treatment principles.
