Investigation of wind speeds over multiple two-dimensional hills

A wind tunnel investigation of the wind flow over two-dimensional, 1 : 1000 scale hills in a simulated atmospheric boundary layer has been performed. The mean speed and longitudinal turbulence have been measured over a variety of hill geometries which included shallow sinusoidal hills, steep sinusoidal hills, consecutive hills and an irregularly shaped hill. Results from this investigation are presented and are briefly compared with wind speeds calculated using CFD (computational fluid dynamics). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
