摘要
Use of commercial Li-Ion batteries for nanosatellite applications is briefly discussed and a technological experiment to be flown on-board the microsatellite UNISAT-2 is described. A commercial Li-Ion battery pack is used as the main energy storage device for the whole satellite, while two Ni-Cd battery packs as used as a backup. Commercial Li-Ion battery selection and assembly procedure for the experiment are described as long as the spacecraft power management system, The Li-lon battery is operated at 4.1V nominal maximum voltage to enhance the battery life and energy efficiency. Every seven days, approximately 100 charge/discharge cycles, the residual battery capacity in orbit is evaluated, performing a full capacity cycle.
