摘要
The Fourth Gospel does not use the metaphor "slave of God" or "slave of Christ" to express the identity and experience of the disciple, although it seems to know the social phenomenon of slavery. After presenting some information that helps us under-stand the slaves situation in the Greco-Roman world, this study will present three texts (John 8:31-36; 15:13-15; 13:16) where slavery is mentioned. It will highlight that this situation is described as a transformed reality: disciple is who becomes son and friend from slavery. There are reasons to think there were some slaves in johannine audience. These slaves are believers, with the same authorized knowlegde than free believers. Text are an effective tool for a status transformation process.
