摘要
The magnetic properties of the unstable-valence Tm monochalcogenides TmTe and TmSe have been revisited using neutron diffraction experiments under high pressures. New high-pressure phases are identified. Interesting connections between the observed magnetic structures and the electronic properties of each compound at low temperature are reported and discussed. The recently discovered antiferroquadrupolar phase in TmTe is characterized by means of high-field measurements performed on single crystals. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
