Modeling of char holdup and char particle size distributions in circulating fluidized bed combustors

摘要
As an initial step for predicting the energy conversion effeciency of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustors and for future emission modeling, a model is presented which estimates the char holdup and the spatial distribution of the char particle size distribution inside a CFB combustion chamber. The submodel describing the combustion of a single particle is divided into three steps, namely, devolatilization, primary fragmentation and char combustion, which are treated independently.
