X-ray spectroscopic observations with ASCA and BeppoSAX

This chapter presents an overview of the X-ray spectroscopic observations with ASCA and BeppoSAX. After an introduction to both missions a few general notes on spectral data fitting are given. In a systematic overview the spectroscopic achievements of both missions are summarized. Subsequently, cool and hot stars, cataclysmic variables, high- and low-mass X-ray binaries, supernova remnants, normal galaxies (including the galactic center), Seyfert 1 and Seyfert 2 galaxies, quasars and clusters of galaxies are discussed.
