Improving the printing quality of continuous ink jet printers for industrial use

This paper describes the improvement of the printing quality of continuous ink jet printers for industrial use. For the cause of drop-placement errors in continuous ink jet printers to be understood, the path of the flying droplets was observed, the droplet charge was measured, and the effects of the electrostatic repulsion and interactions resulting from aerodynamic forces were calculated. Here the causes of drop-placement errors and a method to reduce them in high-speed printing are discussed.
