A sequential injection analysis method was proposed for the determination of phenacetium based on the chemiluminescence (CL) reaction with cerium(IV) in acid solution. The linear relationship between the CL intensity and the concentration of phenacetium is in the range of 4.0 x 10(-9) similar to 1.0 x 10(-6) g/mL with a detection limit of 1.0 x 10(-9) g/mL. The relative standard deviation for 5.0 x 10(-8) g/mL phenacetium in 7 repeated measurements is 1.2%. When applied to the analysis of Qutong tablet and children Keganmin powder, the method is relatively free from interference of common excipients and coexisting drugs.
