摘要
Firms and scientists are linked by examining the prospectuses of firms making an initial public offering in biotechnology and determining scientists who have an involvement with the firm. The data provide an innovative lens for viewing the spillover process and help shed light on questions such as: Where do new industries come from; how important is geography in the spillover process; and how do firms that lack a product succeed in raising money when they go public?.
