Tricholoma equestre is considered to be the correct name for the species often known as T. flavovirens. The history of the conservation of the generic name Tricholoma and its type, T. flavovirens, is reviewed and presented here. The author citation of T. flavovirens is also discussed and the upcoming correction in the ICBN is addressed.
