Ion chromatographic determination of gaseous toxic compounds

摘要
An analytical method has been established in order to quantify volatile compounds such as HCl, HF, HBr, HCOOH, CH3COOH, NO, NO2, and SO2. Ion chromatography with suppressed conductivity detection was applied to quantification of anions of chloride, fluoride, bromide, formate, acetate, nitrate, nitrite, and sulfate, A hydroxide gradient enabled to elute and separate weakly retained anions such as fluoride and acetate as well as strongly retained anions such as sulfate. This analytical method proposes strict quality criteria and can be used for various applications: analysis of thermal degradation products released during the thermolysis of materials, condensed water from ventilation circuits, or extracts from molecular sieves, etc.
