摘要
The pit generation rate (g) on stainless steel (SS) in natural seawater was analyzed according to the stochastic theory. Under the experimental conditions with statistical measurements taken using a potentiokinetic method, two processes were revealed The first process, with the highest rate, controlled pit-generation to a certain value of the open-circuit potential (E(OC)). This corresponded to a modification of the passive film with an enrichment in chromium in the inner layer, Results revealed that a critical E(OC) (similar to 65 mV(SCF)) played a significant role in enhancing pitting corrosion resistance.
