摘要
The compounds shown in the drawing, which are the first gold liquid crystals containing an uncoordinated azo group, show high birefringence in the mesophase, and their mesophases are photosensitive, being destabilized to isotropic liquid upon laser irradiation, because of trans-cis azo isomerization.
