Numerical analyses for magnetically enhanced natural convection of air in an inclined rectangular enclosure heated from below

Natural convection of air under the influence of a magnetic field was numerically computed in a rectangular enclosure of 1 x 2 x 1 length in the x, y and z directions, respectively, heated from one 1 x 2 wall and cooled from an opposing 1 x 2 wall with four other walls thermally adiabatic. An electric coil of one-turn for magnetic field was considered at the center of the y-directional edge of the enclosure. This y-directional edge of the enclosure was further inclined with the x-axis edge kept horizontally. Sample computations were carried out for Pr = 0.71, Ra = 10(4),10(5) and2 x 10(5), and angle of inclination phi = 0, pi/6,pi/3, and pi/2 [rad] for magnetic strength parameter gamma = 0, 1, and 3. Without a magnetic field, the average Nusselt number ranged between 3.3 and 4.4 for phi = 0 - pi/2. For gamma = 3, they attained 6.3-7.4 due to the driving force of the magnetic field. Detailed flow modes are demonstrated herein.
