High-temperature mechanical properties of hot isostatically pressed and forged gamma titanium aluminide alloy powder

摘要
The high-temperature mechanical properties of a powder metallurgically produced Ti-47Al-4(Nb, Mn, Cr, Si, B) (at.%) alloy characterized by a very fine and homogeneous near gamma microstructure (d = 0.9 mum) were studied in the temperature range of 890 to 1100 degreesC. The unique microstructure was accomplished by a special processing route. Gas atomized alloy powder was compacted by hot isostatic pressing and then forged at a relatively low temperature of 850 degreesC. The material exhibits superplastic properties at parameters which are attractive for technical applications. At 1000 degreesC a tensile elongation of 920% was achieved at a low level of cavitation.
