摘要
The ampacity and resistance of a transmission line are usually treated as static. However, these parameters are highly dependent upon the weather conditions. In this article, optimal power flow (OPF) is applied to reduce the active power losses in a modified IEEE 9 -bus system with wind farm integration. The OPF algorithm includes the dynamic ampacity of the transmission line, as a constraint, instead of the traditional static ampacity. This allows an increased transmission capacity while maintaining secure operation. By analyzing the effects of the wind conditions on a transmission line, this article seeks to investigate the coherence between a DLR-modeling approach and optimal system operation. A DLRmodeling approach on transmission lines connected to a wind farm can reveal unused transmission capacity. This allows for either incorporation of more renewable production or a reduction of the cost of the transmission line design, given the system operation seeks to minimize the active power losses.
