摘要：

Comprehensive experience in performing an isothermal forging process for forged components of light weight alloys is overviewed. Requirements for the forging equipment, tool design and furthermore, processing flow charts a in respect to forged parts of aluminium, magnesium and titanium alloys. A classification of the isothermal forging process is presented The whole paper is split into three parts. The first part deals with general conditions for an isothermal forging process, whereas the second and third part show special requirements and conditions for an isothermal forging process of aluminium and magnesium (second part) and titanium and their alloys (third part).
