摘要
As well as other organ systems, the salivary glands can be affected by a variety of pathologies including inflammatory, infectious, obstructive, systemic and neoplastic diseases. In genera! terms, neoplasms account for less than 3% of all head and neck tumors and less than 0.1% of all cancer deaths. Myoepithelial carcinoma is uncommon, with a low potential for dissemination in most cases, and represents approximately 0.2% of all tumors of the salivary glands. Clinical case: 35-year-old female with a 1 cm nodule history in the superficial lobe at the level of the parotid tail, movable; an open biopsy was performed (tumorectomy), with a report of pathology of low-grade myoepithelial carcinoma, with positive focal surgical edges. Final pathology report of the complementary superficial parotidectomy: 1.2 cm myoepithelial carcinoma without lymphatic or perineural invasion, low grade, with residual parotid without evidence of malignancy. Conclusion: It is a cancer of salivary gland, infrequent, in general of low grade, with a favorable prognosis (70-80%).
