A novel multilayer film containing quaternized poly(4-vinylpyridine) complexed with [Os(bpy)(2)CI](+/2+)(POs) was achieved on the surface of glassy carbon electrode modified with branched poly(ethylenimine)(PEI) by alternate deposition of POs with sodium poly(styrenesulfonate)(PSS). The electrochemical behavior of the multilayer film electrode is described. The catalytic effect of the multilayer film electrode on the oxidation of L-cysteine is studied.
