摘要
The formation of fouling deposits in bio-industrial equipment is of crucial importance since it can affect microbial sterility and alter the purity of the product. In practice, cleaning is expensive, not only through the cost of the cleaning process by itself, but also by the cost of lost production and the environmental costs related to waste treatment. However, cleaning protocols need to be more optimal by reducing excess energy and excessive resources (water and chemicals). Cleaning is affected by process variables and an optimization needs an adequate quantification of these involved parameters from measurements and/or computations. Intelligent decision support systems for automatic cleaning of industrial equipment need the quantification of some key parameters involved in fouling removal. In this study, we will present a simple and efficient method to calculate wall shear stress WSS generated by turbulent pulsed flows and its effect on the removal of deposits. (C) 2018 The Authors.
