Polydimethylsiloxane-based ORMOSIL microstructure: correlation with compressive behavior

摘要
Monolithic crack-free hybrid glasses (ORganically MOdified SILicates or ORMOSILs) have been synthesized by hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and silanol-terminated porydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). By varying the PDMS amount and the PDMS chain length, organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been obtained from brittle xerogels to soft elastomers. Compressive stress-strain curves have been correlated to materials microstructure. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
