摘要
A two-level three-factor (2(3)) full factorial design was conducted to observe the parameters influencing arsenic removal from an aqueous solution using iron oxide-coated A. niger biomass. The factors taken into consideration were the mass of the adsorbent, the concentration of arsenic in solution and the solution temperature. It was observed that the mass of the adsorbent and the solution temperature had positive effects on arsenic removal efficiency. Arsenic concentration in the solution had a negative effect. This meant that the higher the solution concentration, the lower the As removal efficiency. The effect of temperature was more pronounced in As(III) removal (26.6%) compared to that of As(V) removal (14.4%). The effect of mass of adsorbent was observed to be higher in the case of As(V) removal (30.7%) compared to that of As(III) removal (25.5%).
