摘要
Armed conflicts have varying degrees of impact on the international system. The conflict does not just happen in isolation within a particular region without interaction of the other members of the international community. Actors of the conflict are not limited to the region where conflict occurs, the third parties often involve in varying degrees. On the basis of the UN Charter, war is permissible only in cases of individual or collective self-defence or in the case of armed actions based on a resolution of the UN Security Council. The invasion of Iraq did not meet neither of those criteria nor in accordance with the generally held of view was legitimate.
