摘要
In agroforestry systems the coexistence of trees and crops favours conservation of the environment but can lead to competition between plants. This study therefore aimed to evaluate parameters of physiology and development in Cordia oncocalyx Allemao and maize (Zea mays L.) at two levels of irrigation, when grown together and separately in pots. Physiological and developmental variables were recorded for two sampling dates. The physiological processes were altered by the level of irrigation, with the worst results being recorded for plants grown at 50% of field capacity, both in C. oncocalyx and maize. C. oncocalyx and maize displayed reduced in absolute growth rate, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, and transpiration in relation to the soil moisture level and/or crop association. Thus both the reduced soil moisture and the association had a negative effect on plant development, reflecting competition at both 100% and 50% of field capacity.
