An Adaptive Filtering Algorithm for SAR Images Based on Modulation Transform Function

An adaptive filtering algorithm based on modulation transfer function to SAR images noise filtering is proposed. First, a MTF based filtering model for the SAR image is presented. MTF calculation algorithm for the SAR image is proposed based on the point spread function noise statistical properties and object gradient distribution. Second, the MTF based image filtering algorithm for SAR image is presented to achieve the adaptive filtering with different object distribution image. Finally, MTF based SAR image filtering experiments are designed for ERS-2 image. Comparing with the results of the Lee filtering, Frost filtering, Gamma filtering and Kuan filtering, the MTF SAR image filtering can obtain better effects.
