Electrochemical Ag doping into YBa2Cu3Oy ceramics using Ag-beta''-Al2O3 ionic conductor

摘要
The electrochemical Ag doping into YBa2Cu3Oy ceramics was carried out at 400-600 degrees C using a Ag-beta ''-Al2O3 (ionic conductor)/YBa2Cu3Oy/Ag-beta ''-Al2O3 sandwich electrolysis system. Ag was doped into the grain boundaries of the superconducting oxide ceramics, and Ba2+ was released. The electrochemical doping resulted in some destruction in the grain boundaries of the YBa2Cu3Oy and the production of Ag metal, when the doping was carried out at high current density and/or high applied voltage. Ag was not doped by a simple chemical diffusion of Ag metal. From the results of the other electrolysis systems consisting of Ag/Ag-beta ''-Al2O3/YBCO/Ag, a mechanism was proposed that Ag migrated as an ion in the grain boundaries together with the substitution for Ba2+.
