摘要
The dimethyl suffoxide (DMSO) intercalate was prepared by replacing 2-propanol molecules in the corresponding VOPO4 intercalate with DMSO. The intercalate contains one DMSO molecule per formula unit. The diffractogram of the intercalate contains, besides of sharp (001) reflections, a number of (hkl) diffraction lines giving evidence of a regular structure. The character of the bonding between the guest and the host layers in the DMSO intercalate was studied by infrared and Raman spectroscopies. The arrangement of the DMSO molecules in the interlayer dyspace was simulated using a Cerius(2) software package combined with a Supramol program. The DMSO molecules are anchored with their oxygens to the vanadium atoms of the host layer with the V-O-DMSO distance 2.503 A. The DMSO molecules are tilted to the host layer so that the angle of V-... O = S is 135 degrees. The structure of the DMSO intercalate is compared with that of the acetone intercalate studied earlier. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
