摘要:
In the article there is analyzed Hong Kong religious (Catholic) organizations' experience in attracting the potentially protesting part of the population with the aim of social changes achievement. Filling the space in the thoughts, theory and strategy of the participants of the social movements for asserting Hong Kong's right for its own future, the religious organizations herewith managed to become part of the SAR's arising civil society. The reason for the high civil activity (in this research it is considered since 2013) in Hong Kong is not only in the "generations distrust", but also in the growth of inequality and difficulties in finding employment, in the disbelief in the justice, low belief in the government and elites, in the apprehension about reinforcement of suppression for the part of the Central government and curtailment of the main human rights and freedoms. The appearance of the youth protest movements representing "a new generation of local identity", autonomous and critically minded, is quite natural. It is just that very growth of a strong local identity of a Hongkon? ger which the continental China authorities are so anxious about to the extent of not permitting to introduce universal suffrage in the SAR in order to avoid Hong Kong secession simultaneously to avoid similar things in the contiguous regions of the continental China. The difference of the protest movements lies in the management and in the "generations conflict": the movement "Occupy Central" in 2013 used to have efficient managing force and organizational structure, when the "Umbrella Revolution" in 2014 was relatively loose, the participants acted proceeding from their own motivation without special leadership. In the second movement there dominated the young people distinguished by ideological persuasion, while the movement itself was more intensive and large-scaled. Catholic Church actively participates in the social movements, including their participation in the management on a definite stage for the purpose of fundamental and universal values preservation such as human rights and freedom. Catholic Church happened to be involved in the struggle for democracy and religious freedom, as middle and professional class has become politically active because of the fear facing the authoritarian Communist management of the continental China and this class required Church's support. This Catholic Church's role, isn't played due to the political motives, but religious ones, thus there are made efforts to defend the main Christian values and human rights. At the same time Buddhists and Taoists didn't participate in the social movements (though among Taoists there were exceptions) as they have been in quite a long time agreement with the government's activity.
