Photoinduced optical effects in rare earth doped δ-BiB3O6

Studies of photoinduced linear and nonlinear optical effects for fundamental wavelength 1064 nm of Nd:YAG laser were performed under different regimes of photoinducing treatment for delta-BiB3O6 large size nanocrystallites with sizes varying within the 150-500 nm range. The studies were performed during the simultaneous coherent laser treatment as well as after the switching off of the photoinducing factors. The time evolution of the process seems to be quite opposite for the case of the Nd3+ or Pr3+ doped samples. The explanation of the observed processes is given within a framework of the B3LYP DFT simulations with taking into account re-occupation of the particular levels within the energy gap.
