Splice Induced Performance Penalty in Mode Multiplexed Few-Mode Fibers

摘要：
We show that splice-induced discrete mode coupling leads to performance penalties in mode-multiplexed transmission systems. This can be explained by an increased waveform variance and nonlinear induced changes of the coupling characteristics.
