摘要
Two karstic fissure fillings (Baixas 200 & 201) have yielded for the first time, teeth of a rare rodent genus in the Middle Miocene from Europe. This genus Pseudofahlbuschia was formerly recorded only from Spain. P. catalaunica sp. nov. is different from the type-population of P. jordensis defined in Spain. Other rodents associated with the new species, among which Megacricetodon fournasi,M. minor, M. similis, indicate a Middle Miocene age for the localities, ranging between the Sansan and La Grive M (MN6/7) reference-levels. The presence of the genus shows a new distribution within the Megacricetodon. The large sized lineage is indeed much less abundant than it is in other localities, while it is the opposite for small sized species.
