摘要
Single phase BiFeO3 powders were prepared by solution combustion synthesis method for visible photo degradation of organic pollutants. The effects of mixed fuels on the combustion behavior, phase evolution, structure, microstructure, optical properties and photocatalytic performance were investigated by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy; electron microscopy, and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy techniques. The as-combusted powders are composed of BiFeO3 phase together with impurity Bi2Fe4O9 and Bi24Fe2O39 phases which were almost eliminated by following the calcination at 600 degrees C. Particle size decreased from 700 nm to 250 nm using the mixture of fuels due to the decrease in combustion temperature. The BiFeO3 powders can absorb a wide range of visible light with band gap energy in the range of 1.88-2.17 eV. About 100% of methylene blue was photodegraded during 100 min visible light irradiation in the presence of BiFeO3 powders prepared by urea fuel.
