An effective three-stage method of preparation of 1, 3, 4, 7-tetranitrooctahydro-2H-imidazo [4, 5-b] pyrazin-2-one (K56) has been developed, based on the reaction of 4,5-diazidotetrahydro-2H-imidazol-2-one (DAZ) with salts of ethylenedinitramine (EDNA) followed by nitration of 4, 7-dinitrooetahydro-2Himidazo[4,5-b]pyrazin-2-one to the final product.
