Recovery of uranium by electro deposition in molten salts media

摘要
This paper concerns the electrodeposition of uranium in molten chlorides containing trivalent uranium ions. Electroanalytic measurements show that the metal is obtained in a single step, exchanging three electrons and that the nucleation mode is instantaneous. The uranium coatings are dendritic but the faradic efficiency of the process is close to one, whatever the current density. The electrolytic separation of uranium from lanthanides can be expected if the respective problems of the compactness of the coatings and the depolaristion of one of the elements to separate are overcomed.
