摘要
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) assigns teeth to the kidneys, which act as a storehouse of the jing essence and give the bones, marrow and teeth their necessary stability. In this regard, dental diseases must be fundamentally addressed by strengthening the kidneys. In the case of Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis (EOTRH), a combination of acupuncture, herbal combinations and Chinese recipes cannot heal the disease, but can significantly slow down the pathological-absorptive processes and achieve pain reduction without the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and other related medicines. Thus, TCVM helped in delaying the extraction of the affected teeth as well as maintaining good quality of life in the case of Ferramo, the gelding horse.
