The flora of Egypt consists of about 2,080 species of seed plants and vascular cryptogams. Of the 1083 species from the Mediterranean coasts, 255 species (incl. 18 endemics) are only known from this area. The Nile-land and the oases contain a total of 800 species; 134 of these species (incl. 10 endemics) are only known from this territory. Of the 1400 species from the deserts, the Sinai and the Elba mountains, 411 species (incl. 40 endemics) are known only from these territories.
