ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION AT SCHOOLS AS THE PART OF HEALTH CARE AND INJURY PREVENTION IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Transport is an important factor of existence, prosperity and comfort of both individual and society. However, it has also negative impact on many living conditions and threatens our physical and psychical health. Despite dramatic statistical injury and mortality rate caused by road accidents (including children and youth casualties), the existing educational means of minimization of the above-mentioned threats are not fully exploited. School system of the 21(st) century therefore must face tip to challenging task to offer comprehensive road safety education in order to help developing a friendly and safety transport climate that would prevent road accidents and their health consequences. Priority outcome of this research plan is to define objectives, content, forms, methods and technological requirements of road safety education at schools.
