摘要
Bangalore, the South Indian city famous for IT industry, is witnessing a great number of love and arranged marriages due to the peculiar working conditions. The IT professionals of Bangalore come from different places and regions from all over India. IT companies are imagined to be places where lower-caste youth can find a place to work in an environment which has clearly rejected caste and where people from rural and urban backgrounds mix freely. Among the IT professionals of Bangalore love marriages are quite common, but on closer examination the assumed differences between arranged and love marriages turn out to be not as great as commonly supposed. Love marriages seem to challenge certain important elements ingrained in Indian society. Love marriages often equal inter-caste marriages. Such marriages signal a break with the community and are becoming a trend in the IT industry now a day.
