摘要
A wideband lightweight half Maxwell fish-eye (HMFE) lens antenna is proposed in this paper. The lens with a radius of only 18 mm consists of three concentric half-cylinder dielectric substrates with different permittivities. It is embedded inside a parallel-plate waveguide (PPW) and illuminated by a rotatable feed antenna. The graded refractive index (GRIN) is realized by drilling holes in these substrates. The measured -10 dB impedance bandwidth is 26.5 - 40 GHz, covering the whole Ka-band. The measured gain of the center beam reaches 17.3 dBi at 32.8 GHz, and the 1 dB gain bandwidth is 25.5%. Multi-beam radiation is performed by rotating the feed antenna, and the scanning coverage is up to +/- 30 degrees. The proposed HMFE lens antenna features wideband, lightweight (only 32 g), low cost, and multi-beam radiation, rendering it a good candidate for millimeter-wave communication.
