A test facility for efficiency characterization of electrically small antennas

摘要
Recent trends in communications technology call for miniaturized components including antennas. The measurement of electrically small antennas poses unique challenges since reflections from the antenna positioner can now contribute to substantial errors in gain and directivity measurement. This paper describes a unique solution to the problem. An existing anechoic chamber was modified by using a new rigid but low dielectric constant antenna support and a retractable roll-axis mechanism. System validation tests illustrate the applicability of the new system. The technical solutions Proposed in this paper can be used for successful modification of existing antenna test facilities at minimal cost.
