摘要
In the given paper, we have made an attempt to evaluate the sustainability of two industrially developed East-European countries - Russia and Ukraine - to compare their environmental and sustainability indicators to the Germany ones and define the influence of the main industrial branches on the sustainable development. Besides, the ways to improve the indicators of sustainable development were identified. It has been shown that although the sustainability indicators in East-European countries are worse than in the developed European countries the sustainable development can still be reached applying the main principle of sustainability, that is permanent improvement with the focus on the environmental efficiency of production and reduction of environmental pollution.
