摘要
An alternative approach to control the morphology of Y4O(OH)(9)NO3: Er3+, Yb3+ has been developed by introducing metal ions during facile hydrothermal synthesis. Nanoparticles of Y2O3: Er3+, Yb3+ were obtained from calcination of the Y4O(OH)(9)NO3: Er3+, Yb3+ precursors. It was found that the negatively charged aluminum complex ions enabled the evolution of nanotubes through rolling from nanosheets. The positively charged calcium complex ions prohibited the rolling of nanosheets. The approach reported here to make the shape-controlled nanoparticles can be applied to synthesize other nanomaterials. Further characterization showed that the addition of Ca2+ in synthesis increased the red-to-green emission ratio of the Y2O3: Er3+, Yb3+.
