摘要：
Species selection of phytoplankton in reservoirs is approached from the first principles assembled for describing the algal assemblages in lakes and in relation to their adaptations to contend with the key factors of resource availability and processing constraints. Examples of typical reservoir plankton are furnished from the literature.
